Aftersun Counselling

My Work
For therapy to work, it has to reflect your unique life experience. I don’t believe that there is any one type of therapy that best fits any one person, or any one concern. I am trained in various therapeutic styles and take pieces from each to create an approach that fits. I believe that therapy is most effective when it’s a collaborative process, where your feedback plays a pivotal role to fit your evolving journey. I use an anti-oppressive lens, meaning that I consider how all of your social identities have shaped you. I explore this using a combination of somatic and thought-based approaches. I commonly draw from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to help you gain better control over your thoughts and emotions, Internal Family Systems to explore different facets of your identity, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to foster positive change. As counselling psychology is a relatively new field, I am committed to ongoing education. This helps me to stay updated with the latest research and therapeutic techniques to ensure that I provide you with the most effective and evidence-based support.
